Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies by Donna Lynch

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar (to roll dough in)

Beat shortening and peanut butter. Add 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Mix until combined. Add egg, milk, vanilla and flour a little at a time. Roll into balls, 1- 1 1/2 inches. Roll in 1/4 cup granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and press candy kiss into the center. Let cool on rack.
