Holiday Ginger Bread by Mary Jane Stoltman
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup Crisco
In large bowl, mix flour, sugar, ginger, cinnamon and Crisco like a pie crust. Remove one cup and set aside for topping. Take remaining ingredients and mix with:
1 egg
2 tablespoons molasses
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix well. Pour into a greased square (8×8 inches) pan and cover with topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
